Inner Courtyard
The courtyard connects the main building and the rear building. In the 1950s, it was paved with bluestone and fitted with a glass roof. The fountain on the firewall adjoining the neighboring house has a marble surround dating from the late 18th century. Three crescents can be seen on the basin, the coat of arms of the Monheim family. On the east side of the courtyard, blind frames indicate the raised basement of the rear building. A staircase leads to the level of the historic kitchen in the formerly independent house “Zur Waage” and to the rear building, where Johann Peter Joseph Monheim’s wholesale pharmaceutical business was probably housed from 1833 onwards.
