Varieties of<br \/>noble wood like mahogany, ebony or cedar were used, but also velvet and marble. Straight lines<br \/>and right angles \u2013 along with bronze appliqu\u00e9s, bronze fittings in the form of neo-classical<br \/>decorative elements (lions, sphinxes, laurel or oak leaves) \u2013 were typical features of this style,<\/p>\n<p>which replaced the carved ornamentation of the previous Aachen-Li\u00e8ge style.
