The hood is decorated with Dutch tiles featuring motifs of children playing. The coffee roaster, coffee mill and porcelain crockery all illustrate how, in the 18th century, luxury drinks like coffee, tea and chocolate had become an established part of middle class life. All the glittering, engraved and ornamented kitchen equipment might give a false impression about how hard housework was in those days.
